A Ladymass

Trio Mediaeval combines music of the Middle Ages and modern times: the repertoire of the concert includes 13th and 14th century pieces from Worcester and West Country in England and compositions written especially for the ensemble. The combination of polyphonic pieces and monodic songs results in a variety of sounds and structural contrasts.
The programme is called Ladymass and has the form of a votive mass for the Virgin Mary. England was so devoted to the Mother of God that in the Middle Ages it was called the Garden of Mary, and since the dedication of the cathedral to her name in Worcester this devotion was especially strong.
