A Choral Tapestry

Voces8 – one of the most renowned and most popular vocal groups at present, they will perform in Cracow for the first time.

The ensemble will present works of the greatest masters of sacred a cappella music. We will listen to music that has been created over the centuries primarily for the needs of Western Christian liturgy in the elaborate interpretation of the group. It will be a musical journey from the Renaissance polyphony of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Thomas Tallis, through the music of Gregorio Allegri, Orlando Gibons and works of such 20th-century classics as: Sergei Rachmaninoff, Gabriel Fauré, Benjamin Britten and John Tavener, to the latest compositions of the most appreciated choral musicians today: Philip Stopford and Paul Mealor.

During the concert a premiere of In Monte Oliveti written especially for Voces8 by father Dawid Kusz OP, a Cracow composer and a Dominican friar, who has been specializing in sacred choral art for many years, will also take place.
